Acura car

Tuesday, January 29, 2008

In 1986 Acura entered the American market, becoming the first Japanese company to sell luxury-performance cars in the United States. Twenty-one years later, it is still offering high-quality high-performance vehicles at reasonable prices.

Acura's two decades (so far) have been packed with innovation, and it began with the Acura Legend. A year later, in 1987 the newly-introduced Legend Coupe was the first of its make to offer an air bag. Another year later, the sedan version became the best-selling luxury import car, and Acura the top luxury import line, in the US.

The trend of excellence and innovation continued through the 1990s which saw the introduction of the 3- and 5-door versions of the Integra, as well as the all-aluminum NSX. Later, Motor Trend would call the 1991 NSX sport coupe the "best sports car ever built."

Throughout the 1990's, Acura expanded its line, introducing the RL in 1996 and the TL in 1998. Two years later, the MDX - a mid-sized SUV - was added to the line, and it was hailed by both Car and Driver and Motor Trend as the SUV of the year. 2001 saw the Integra replaced by the new RSX sports coupe, and 2003 gave us the TSX and the updated, and bluetooth equipped, TL as well.

Acura continues to offer technological advances, including the first North American traffic system, and state of the art all-wheel drive systems. The RDX has merged the style of a sedan and the flexibility of an SUV into a model that some call a Crossover Utility Vehicle, though Acura refers to it as an Urban Adventure Vehicle. Whatever name is given to it, however, it is clear that for Acura, the adventure in luxurious, comfort-filled cars, is just beginning.

How to Care for Your Car During Winter

Your car is important investment. It may even biggest asset, to date. Plus, you need it to get to and from work and other many places. For these reasons and more, it is essential to understand how to take care of it during these cold, winter months.

For instance, do you know that you need to check the thread count on your tires? Why? If your thread count is low your car won't have as good of a grip onto the road. This could cause your car to slide quicker, causing accidents.

Some people who live in areas that get a lot of snow prefer to have snow tires installed onto their cars during the winter months. This is especially helpful for those who have cars that have rear wheel drive. The reason is that snow tires helps to distribute more weight to the back of the car which helps to keep the car from skidding. Those who do not wish to go to the expense of installing snow tires or the hassle, may instead put some extra weight in their trunk in the form of blocks or sandbags.

A couple of simple things that most of us can do ourselves to help our cars is: checking our windshield wipers for cuts and tears or just replacing them since they are so inexpensive and easy to do, adding extra washer fluid, especially the kind that has extra additives in it that will help to melt frost from our window, making sure all of our other fluids are full, especially our antifreeze. Antifreeze is important. It helps keeps our radiator from freezing. Once a radiator freezes, it may develop little holes, which can lead to some serious auto repair work.

After we have done all the little things that we are able to ourselves, we may want to consider making an appointment with our mechanic and having him do a maintenance check. You could ask him to check over all belts, your brake system, and any other areas that he feels should be checked, just to make sure your car is running at tip top performance for these cold days of winter.

Hopefully, your mechanic will not find anything major wrong with your car. Then you are left with checking all the lights on your car. You want to make sure your headlights, turning lights, brake lights and even your flashers are working properly. When they aren't working they usually just need a new bulb or possibly a new fuse. If you are unable to fix the problem some of the salespeople at some auto parts stores are more than happy to assist you.

Finally, you should make sure your emergency kit that you store in your car is up to date. Check to see if the medication has not expired. You should have antibiotic cream store in there as well as bandages, gauze, aspirin, tweezers, and stomach medication. You should have these items on hand in case you break down along the road: a flashlight with fresh batteries, a blanket, some foods such as crackers, chips, bottled water, protein bars, etc, road flares, etc.

Some of these tips may seem to be a bit extreme. But what you do now to take care of your car may keep your car running smooth all winter long and that is why we should all read every how to take of our car winter tip we can. article source: Jeffry_Meier

New Car Loans

Friday, January 25, 2008

Getting a new car loan is only as far away as your computer with the many lenders offering this service online. Buying a new car is not something that you should step into quickly. Just as with making any major purchases you should think about it beforehand and know the type of car you want to buy. Although car prices stay the same most of the time, the financing costs do go up and down during the year.

The financing costs are what you have to look at when you buy a new car. Some dealerships offer incentives, such as no interest for the life of the loan, which is usually three or four years. This saves you money because you know that you are only paying for the car itself.

The main thing to take into consideration when applying for a loan for a new car is whether or not you can afford the monthly payments. These payments should be in line with your income, so you do need to set a budget concerning the amount of money you want to spend on the car. You also have to consider the cost of the car insurance and the money you will need for gas to run the car. It will be useless to have the money for the payments if you can't afford to drive the car.

When applying for a loan to buy the car you can go to your regular bank or apply to an online lender. Applying online gives you more opportunities to find lenders who will approve the loan if you have less than perfect credit. You may find that you do have to pay higher interest rates because of this, but you shouldn't have any problem getting the money you need and the new wheels you want. originally wrote by: Tom_Cruz

Cheap Car Insurance In New York

Cheap car insurance may seem hard to find in New York, but there are certain things you can do to lower your costs and premiums. Also, with auto rates tending to go down across the country now is a good time to see how much you could save. Here's how.

One of the most important things you can do to find the cheapest auto insurance is to get several comparison quotes. This is because insurance rates can vary so much from one company to the next. Auto insurance companies often set rates based on their target underwriting market so you may be a better fit for one company as opposed to another and receive a lower rate. The Insurance Information Institute recommends at least three quotes for comparison.

The New York State Insurance Department's Web site does feature some example premiums, but you really need to get custom quotes to see how much you can save. You can call insurance agents, or visit the Web sites of companies that do business in the state and request quotes. To get the most accurate quotes, provide the same information to each company, such as how much coverage you want, the amount of your deductibles, how many miles you drive, etc.

You might find it more convenient to go to an online insurance comparison Web site. These sites don't represent a single company and will provide you several quotes. Typically, you only need to enter your information once and then you can get apples-to-apples comparisons.

Other ways you can lower your car insurance costs include:

Increasing your deductible. This can lower your premium quite a bit.

Taking advantage of discounts. Most companies offer several types of discounts that, if you are eligible, could save you five, 10 even 20 percent on your premium.

Maintaining a good credit score. Credit is often used by insurance companies to assess risk. If you have bad credit you may be considered a higher risk and have to pay more.

Drive less. If you drive a lot of miles in a year, you may be considered a higher risk and need to pay more.

Justin Scott is a free-lance insurance writer. You can compare car insurance quotes for free from several New York companies at: LowerYourInsurance.com

The site also provides information about saving on car insurance and features a quote comparison sheet to help when shopping for quotes.

Protecting Your Car From Theft

Thursday, January 24, 2008

A car is stolen (or broken into) every 19 seconds in the United States. That's almost 2 million cars a year and cost up to $8 billion to Americans every year in replacement and insurance costs. It can sometimes take an auto thief less than 7 seconds to break into a car and drive away, and do not be fooled into believing that they will not go for an old car. Some of these robbers go for car parts/accessories and these are sometimes worth three times more than the entire car itself. Here are a few precautionary measures you can take to avoid having your car broken into or stolen:

  1. Don't leave keys in the car. Believe it or not, in 20 percent of stolen cars cases, the owners left the keys in the ignition.
  2. Park in a well-lighted area; stay away from secluded areas.
  3. Keep packages and valuables out of sight; put them in the trunk.
  4. When parking, turn the front wheels sharply to the left or right and set the hand brake so the car will be hard to tow.
  5. When parking in a driveway, face the car toward the street. A thief will have to tinker with the car in full view of anyone who passes by.
  6. Do not walk away from your car and leave the motor running - even if an errand requires less than a minute.
  7. When you walk away from your parked car, be sure the car is locked, the windows are closed, and you have the key in your pocket.
  8. Don't keep your license, registration card, or car title in your car unless state law requires you to do so. If thieves get these documents they can use them to sell your car or impersonate you.
  9. If you have a security system, don't display a decal that tells a thief exactly what kind of system you have installed. A generic sticker that says, "This car is equipped with a security system' is okay.
  10. Avoid leaving spare keys in "secret" spots in or on the car; thieves know where to look.
  11. Keep the car locked while in the garage.
  12. Don't leave the garage-door opener in the car. If your car is stolen, you have given the thief access to your home.
  13. When parking in an attended parking lot, give the attendant your ignition key only; make sure the key you leave has no key identification number on it.

Car Insurance - The Impact Of Speeding Points

Sunday, January 20, 2008

That little letter “awarding” us points on our license is something we all dread and unfortunately many of us may experience this at one point or other during our driving career.

Indeed, over the next year it is predicted that 1.5 million drivers will find themselves landed with penalty points. Assuming an average £60 fine, this equates to around £90 million in fines.

The big question is: just how does this impact upon your insurance policy and does the price rise exponentially with each successive set of points you receive?

The answer it seems can be both yes and no. Most insurers say that for a single speeding offence, especially one dealt with without need for a court appearance and where the driver is otherwise considered to be “low risk”, the cost is likely to be fairly minimal.

However, all that changes for a second offence. According to communications company Tiscali you can expect your car insurance policy to rise by 30% on average if you are caught speeding twice and a possible 60% if you are caught speeding for a third time within a 5-year period.

Of course, things are not always as clear-cut as this and many other factors can affect the way this impacts on your policy. If you have also suffered an accident and claimed on your insurance policy, this combined with the points you have received can cause a much bigger rise than either factor taken into consideration separately.

An older driver with several years’ no-claims bonus may find it does not affect his or her policy anywhere near as much as a younger driver, seen as less experienced and a higher risk in the insurer’s eyes. Indeed, if you are unfortunate enough to be under the age of 25 and receive points on your license it can cost you dearly.

It is worth noting that some police forces have introduced speed awareness courses that in some circumstances will allow you to avoid the three points on your license in exchange for attending a day’s course.

This is only offered to those who have exceeded the speed limit by a small margin (for example less than 38 mph in a 30 mph zone). Some forces operate a lower tolerance level than this – and don’t forget that you will be charged for attending the course, usually the same amount as the fine would have been. And you will have to take a day off work.

Of course it is best if you can avoid getting points on your license in the first place, if you can help it. Driving responsibly and within the speed limit will help ensure the safety of not only yourself but those around you.

If you do find yourself on the receiving end of a set of points the best thing you can do is to shop around and not accept the first quote you receive.

It is also important you don’t “forget” to tell your insurer of your points as you will find your motor insurance policy instantly voided should they find out you have not disclosed them.

You can expect your car insurance to rise significantly when you receive points on your license.

If you fail to notify your insurer as to this fact your motor insurance policy could be voided when you need it most.

The Soul Of Kia

Friday, January 18, 2008

Kia has Soul and is trying to sell it to the American car buyers. But this probably comes as no surprise to the American public The Soul we are talking about was announced earlier this year in 2007 at the International Auto Show. It is believed that this car was named “Soul” to represent the cars Korean origin and the combined efforts of both Korea and their North American counter parts in California. The 2008 Kia Soul combines tastes and design in an effort to bring new life to a concept car that truly does have a soul of its own.

Kia’s new Soul concept car has a design that hopes to attract a younger, more active group of buyers. The modern stylish package offered standard along with new exterior features puts it all together for those looking for taste and style all in one.

The interior of the Soul is cram packed with one awesome and fully customizable multimedia communications system. In addition, mood lighting, a wide cargo area and a remote powered lift gate rounds out an interior that meets everyone’s expectations and then some.

When we look closer at the exterior of this wonderful pint sized new vehicle, we find a roof that houses not just one but two sun roofs, one in the front that is moveable and a rear window that is hinged. This design creates a panoramic sun/moon roof that adorns the Kia Soul’s sloped roofline. This allows Kia Soul occupants to enjoy open-air driving while also taking advantage of panoramic views. In addition, the Soul’s roof features adjustable roof racks integrated into the design. This design is intended to create an open, uninterrupted passenger cabin.

To add additional style to the interior, the audio systems speakers were made part of the overall design by making them a different color than the dash board which allows them to stand out. The small thin framed seats are a slight shade off the color of the speakers, and provide seating for four with a long center console that divides the first and second rows.

With its efforts to appeal to a younger more active generation, and realizing that today’s vehicles are becoming more of a mobile office, the Soul comes equipped with a video game monitor and a laptop computer that swings out of the glove box. The design allows it to be operated from either the driver or passenger side seats.

The hip, urban feel of the Kia Soul is enhanced by unique interior lighting. Rather than utilizing a standard dome light, lighting shines from around the moon roof, as well as from the trim of the door panels.

Kia wants to inspire passion in young car buyers, and to accomplish this, the Kia Soul will provide a unique and dynamic vehicle in the increasingly crowded compact SUV market allowing the Soul Concept crossover SUV to be its roadmap to success.

Kia Motors is stepping outside of the shadow of its competitors and making a significant place for itself in the key SUV sector.

Bad Credit Can Affect Your Car Insurance Rate

Wednesday, January 16, 2008

Today...in real world..how do you can sure that yourself to be one of the safest drivers on the road. always watch out the speed limit, make sure signal given before turn or change line, how can we adept with all this thing?. You have the cleanest of clean driving records, so one would think that you would be a top candidate for lower car insurance rates, especially lower than that jerk who whizzed past you this morning in a school zone, right?

no...Wrong, or at least not necessarily.

  • what If your credit report has some blemishes on it, chances are good that you might not get the lowest car insurance rates, even despite the fact that your driving record is spotless. And thanks to a recent Supreme Court ruling, your car insurance company does not have to inform you that you are not getting the best rates. As ridiculous as that sounds, the Supreme Court recently overturned a Circuit Court ruling that said the FCRA (Fair Credit Reporting Act) requires insurers to notify customer whenever their credit rating prevents them from getting the best available car insurance rate.
  • The auto insurance companies argue that a customer's credit rating is just one of many criteria they use to establish car insurance rates for the customer. They said that if the ruling had stood, it would have required them to send out millions of notices to customers in order to avoid class-action lawsuits.
  • Recently, at least about 10 years or so, most car insurance companies have used the customer's credit rating when establishing car insurance rates for the customer. They claim that various studies have indicated that customers with bad credit are much more likely to file claims.
  • The car insurance companies claim that a credit report "is a solid predictor of risk", and after all, car insurance rates are all about risk. They further claim that a person with bad credit would tend to be more irresponsible, since they have demonstrated irresponsibility with their credit and would likely also be irresponsible with their driving habits.
  • Obviously, consumer groups disagree whole-heartedly and says that this assumption on the part of the auto insurance companies is a "disturbing moral hypothesis". Many people have bad credit because of divorce, being laid off from a job, serious illness, and is absolutely no reflection on their level of responsibility.
  • Other than that, credit reports are known to be notorious for errors. Studies have shown that an alarmingly high percentage of consumer credit reports contain errors. The credit bureaus claim that they only report the news and take almost no responsibility for the accuracy of the information reported. The sad outcome of that reality is the vast majority of consumers do not regularly check their credit reports, and if they do, they have no idea of how to get inaccurate data corrected. For information about how to get inaccurate data removed from your credit report so that your credit rating is higher, you may wish to visit Raising Your Credit Score for more information.

Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 10

Mitsubishi Motors is introducing the 2008 Lancer Evolution, the newest and most sophisticated version of the legendary high-performance model series that began 16 years ago.

While remaining true to the core values that have made the Lancer Evolution synonymous with thrilling performance, the next-generation model offers all-around capability and user technology that distinguish the world’s best performance models.

The strikingly styled 2008 Lancer Evolution showcases new performance and handling technology, including an all-new 291-hp 2.0-liter turbocharged/intercooled engine and the Super-All Wheel Control (S-AWC) dynamic handling system. S-AWC offers an extraordinary level of control at each wheel, going well beyond the capabilities of other all-wheel drive systems.

The Lancer Evolution was designed to be "intimidating and exciting," says Mitsubishi. And it is. With 291 HP and 300 ft-lb of torque, the 2008 Lancer Evolution came screaming onto the scene to make it's North American debut at the LA Auto Show. And the critics are raving. While extolling the virtues of the Evolution's enhanced performance, one automotive critic in attendance put it simply: "this baby is set to scoot." new model from proton..

Full size clay model of Proton BLM. This is way clearer than any spy shots posted on the internet. However, this is the clay model only. The final design might be different from this, or may look different. As someone commented before, this will be another proton best seller as the design is very good. I agree with that. Bear in mind, BLM stand for Base Line Model, means to replace current SAGA. You can read the SAGA in second picture at the number plate area. Priced at only around RM30,000.00, full size car and look quote good like this, sure it will steal a bit of viva sales.

Some of you might laid your eyes on the LG CNS Design Studio on the wall. Apparently, LG helped Proton to design the Savvy, and Proton this time asked them to design sedan of the savvy.

Proton has updated their Cineleisure Mutiara Damansara chassis with a new one that has a roof structure and some body panels. Compare this to the previous bare chassis here. Now we are able to see clearly the roofline of the car in person without disguise.

It’s not awkward like some Japanese hatch-turned-sedan cars, but I did notice that the BLM is a taller than average sedan, probably to improve the headroom in the interior.
